The @FirstLadyofHI and I have the honor of leading the Hawai‘i Sister–State mission to Japan. It was a great privilege to meet with Governor Muraoka and sign the Yamaguchi Sister-State Agreement.
Today, we live in a more connected global society and the opportunities to build greater people-to-people relations evolve organically, contributing to mutually rewarding goals that promote peace and prosperity for our respective regions.

妻と私は、新しくハワイと日本の県が姉妹都市関係となることを光栄に思っています。このたび姉妹都市となる山口県の村岡知事とお会いして、協定書に署名しました。今日、繋がりの強いグローバルな社会の中で暮らしており、より多くの人との関係を構築するための機会が存在しています。そして、互いが、それぞれの地域で平和と繁栄を促進するという目標のために助け合っていくのです。
