The Hawaiʻi Youth Challenge Academy recently held its first in-person graduation since the start of the pandemic. Class 56 is also the program’s first graduating class in Hawaiʻi to graduate with a 100% post-program employment rate and official accreditation status.

One of the cadets who aspires to work in the culinary field, pictured here, also received an award recently for his Sweet Potato Pot Pie recipe. He submitted it as part of a recipe contest, where it’ll now be integrated into school lunch menus.

Youth Challenge’s mission during its 22-week in-residency program is to help 16-18 year olds who have left traditional high school settings, teaching them the life skills, education, and self-discipline they need to succeed as productive citizens. Congratulations class 56!

「ハワイ・ユース・チャレンジ・アカデミー」はパンデミックが始まってから初めて対面で卒業式を開催しました。クラス56は、このプログラムが始まってから初めて、卒業後の雇用率100％、そして正規の学業認定を受けて卒業しました。

写真に写っている卒業生のうちの1人は、調理業界で働くことになっていますが、最近スイートポテトパイのレシピで表彰されました。彼がレシピコンテストに送ったレシピは、今後学校でのランチメニューとなります。

22週間にわたる合宿型研修プログラム「ユース・チャンレンジ」の使命は、16歳から18歳までの高校中退した青少年を支援して、生産的な市民として成功していくために必要とされるスキルや教育、自己鍛錬を教えることにあります。

クラス56の皆さん、卒業おめでとう！
