Congratulations to the newest members of the Honolulu City Council, who took their oaths of office and were honored in today’s inauguration ceremony.

I look forward to working with the new and returning council members on our many shared priorities, from public safety and homelessness to creating truly affordable housing, so that local families can put down roots and thrive in this place where they were born and raised.

This is the start to an effective working relationship to tackle our island’s most critical issues, and we’re excited to start the new year!

今日の就任式で宣誓をした新しいホノルル市議会議員の皆さん、おめでとうございます。
新しい議員、そして再任された議員の皆さんとともに、市民の皆さんが生まれ育ったこの場所で根を下ろして生きていけるように、公衆安全やホームレスの問題、そして手頃な価格の住宅の供給問題など、様々な最重要課題に対して協力して取り組んでいくことを楽しみにしています。
これは、我々の島の非常に重要な問題に対応していくために必要な協力体制の始まりなのです。私たちは新しい年を迎えることを非常に喜ばしく思っています！
