It was a huge honor to deliver my first State of the State address to you today! Hawaiʻiʻs communities agree that bold action and concerted, positive change is what we need, to move Hawaiʻi forward.
We owe you an effective government that takes bold action. If we accept our kuleana, follow the mandate we have been given, and act, rooted in our common values, we will show you that we are working for you, and that you can believe in your government again.
Together, we will live up to the promise of Hawaiʻi.

私は今日皆さんに最初の所信表明演説をお届けできたことを非常に光栄に思っています。ハワイのコミュニティーは、ハワイが前進していくためには、大胆な行動と、協調性のある積極的な変化が必要だということで一致しています。私たちは、大胆な行動を取れる効果的な州政府を作っていく義務があります。もし私たちがその責任を受け止め、与えられたルールを守り、共通の価値観に基づいて行動するならば、市民のために働く政府であること、そして、再び皆さんに信頼してもらえる政府であることを示すことができるでしょう。私たちは共にハワイの約束を守っていきます。
