Today, @FirstLadyofHI spoke at the 29th Annual Nagasaki Peace Ceremony commemorating 77 years of peace with Japan.
The Nagasaki Peace Bell is a gift to the people of Honolulu from the Nagasaki Prefecture Hibakusha (survivors) of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki.
Recognizing that true steps to peace must begin with acknowledgment of harmful actions in the past, the survivors in Nagasaki wished to make a gesture of reconciliation to the people of the city of Honolulu, which sustained a military attack by their country on December 7th, 1941

本日、ハワイ州知事夫人は日本との77年間の平和を記念して行われた第29回長崎平和式典でスピーチを行いました。長崎平和の鐘は、長崎への原爆投下で被曝した生存者の皆さんからホノルル市民へ贈られたものです。平和への真の歩みは、過去の誤った行動を認めることから始めなければならないことを認識し、長崎の被爆者の皆さんは、1941年12月7日に日本によって行われた軍事攻撃を受けたホノルル市の市民に和解の気持ちを伝えようとしたのです。
